In principle, "mobile line + smartphone / tablet" is required for docomo online shop and personal procedures: From 10:00 on November 26th

NTT DoCoMo will partially change the login authentication method required for procedures at the "Docomo Online Shop" from 10 o'clock on November 26th. As a result, except for new contracts and MNP contracts, individual users are required to access using the line for procedures.

[Addition: 18:20] I asked the NTT DoCoMo Public Relations Department about this matter, so I added it together with the answer. Also, the article title has been revised to make it easier to understand.

Announcement from docomo online shop

Outline of specification change

In the past, at the docomo online shop, you have to log in with your "d account" before proceeding with the purchase procedure. Two-step verification using SMS (Short Message) is required for some procedures, but there are no particular restrictions on the terminals and access lines used for the procedures.

Due to this specification change, if an individual user who has a contract for a doCoMo line performs the following procedures, Internet connection (sp-mode or mopera U) using the procedure line and authentication using the "Network PIN code" will be required. Mandatory.

If you are connected to another internet line, you will not be able to complete the procedure. Please note that smartphones and tablets connected to Wi-Fi (wireless LAN) need to be accessed by turning off Wi-Fi and switching to mobile data communication. Procedures from a PC are also not supported.

Due to the specification change, lines that do not have sp-mode or mopera U contracts will not be able to change models or contracts at the online shop. It is necessary to visit a docomo shop.

For contracts in the name of a corporation, we will continue to support authentication using a d-account. Also, with a carrier-free d account (not linked to a docomo line), you can continue to purchase accessories regardless of the line you access.

Authentication method according to the procedure from November 26

Why was the specification changed? Will the procedure on the PC be restored?

We asked the NTT DoCoMo Public Relations Department about this specification change. I received the answer, so I will post it after adjusting the appearance.

――Why do you require "access from smartphones and tablets connected via mobile lines" and "authentication with network PIN" for procedures for individual contractors other than new contracts this time?

DoCoMo Public Relations Department We already have authentication methods that can achieve a higher level of security for d-accounts, such as passwordless authentication. However, not all customers have set up such an authentication method. Therefore, we decided to change the specifications this time in order to ensure a certain level of security for all customers.

――Is it necessary to use a smartphone or tablet for a PC that allows direct mobile communication, such as the "ThinkPad X1 Nano" that your company launched the other day?

DoCoMo Public Relations Department That's right. Once you replace the SIM card with another smartphone or tablet, you can access the online shop via sp-mode or mopera U from there.

――Is there a possibility that you will be able to perform procedures from a PC or access from a line other than the contracted line again in the future?

DoCoMo Public Relations Department As mentioned earlier, this measure is to ensure a certain level of security for all customers. If you can secure a certain level of security even with the procedure you pointed out, there is a possibility that it will resume. However, it has not been decided at this time.
