How to configure two -factor authentication on Mac (and why should you do so)
This is not the first time that Lifehacker has taken up "two -factor authentication".
If you haven't used it yet, you should take this feature to all important accounts.
The two -factor authentication that enhances security levels with a six -digit passcode that is regenerated every 30 seconds is most important in protecting the safety and security of digital accounts.
Apple has incorporated two -factor authentication (2 factor authentication) into the "password" function in iOS 15 and iPados 15 and MacOS Monterey.
This feature is synchronized on all devices using the iCloud key chain.

If you are using Safari, you can easily enter a two -factor authentication code with the Touch ID.You don't have to use a password management app.
How to set 2 element authentication on Mac
Setting a two -factor authentication in MacOS Monterey is very easy.
Just enter the confirmation code.Most sites, apps, and services are the same.
The procedure is described as an example when setting up two -factor authentication of "Twitter" in Safari.You must first add the site login to the iCloud key chain.
First, open the site and find the "2 element authentication" function from the settings.
On Twitter, proceed in the order of "Settings and Privacy"> "Security and Account Access"> "Security"> "2 Element authentication".
Next, select the authentication app option.
Click the button starting from the wizard.After entering the password, select the option to authenticate.
The QR code is displayed by default.
Instead of using this QR code, if you can't scan the QR code under the QR code, click the link.
Copy the displayed code.
Open the Mac system environment setting and go to the password.After authenticating, open the Twitter login and click the edit button.
From the confirmation code section.Click the "Enter the Configuration Key" button.
Paste the confirmation code copied from the site and click OK.Click the save button to save the details.
The 6 -digit confirmation code that is regenerated every 30 seconds is displayed.Return to Twitter, click the next button from the confirmation code screen, and enter the 6 -digit code.
If you are using a Mac with a Touch ID, you can easily enter just by scanning your finger.
The code is confirmed, two -factor authentication is set and enabled.
A backup code is also displayed, so save it in a safe place (such as a memo protected by the "memo" application password).
How to log in using two -factor authentication on a Mac
If you are using Safari, you do not need to find a confirmation code.Safari will automatically enter the code.
Next, when you log in to the site, just log in with the Touch ID when the confirmation page is displayed.
If you are using a browser other than Safari, you need to manually search for the confirmation code.
The method is to go to the system environment setting> password to find the login of the site.The confirmation code will be displayed on the detailed screen.
How to disable two -factor authentication on a Mac
If you do not want to use two -factor authentication on a specific site, you can delete the confirmation code from the "Password" app.First, the site is turned off the two -factor authentication (because you may be asked to enter the confirmation code).
Next, proceed in the order of system environment setting> password.If you find the corresponding site, click the edit button.
Click Delete the confirmation code from the confirmation code section.
In the pop -up displayed, select the confirmation code again.
This should disappear the two -factor authentication section.
