On February 24, the Internet Initiative Japan (IIJ) held a briefing session on its security business. The multi-faceted service centered on the Security Monitoring Center (SOC) is performing well, and sales have achieved double-digit growth. In 2016, the company established the "Security Headquarters", which integrates the security businesses that had been dispersed among various business divisions. We have been diversifying our services under the brand "wizSafe". Currently, there are eight service departments within the headquarters. Junichi Shimagami, Managing Director and Chief Technology Officer, said at the beginning of the press conference, "The importance of communication infrastructure has been recognized by the Korona-ka, and the demand for safety is increasing, as is security. IIJ's security service Is unique in that it is provided as a network telecommunications carrier and an internet service provider, and has been working on security measures since its inception. " Next, Mamoru Saito, General Manager of the Security Division, explained the trends over the last year or so. The Corona disaster has dramatically changed the business environment of companies, and he said that "supply chain attacks" that exploit business connections between companies, attacks on IoT devices, distributed denial of service attacks (DDoS), and ransomware attacks Increasingly, threatening techniques that threaten the business continuity of companies and organizations are used. In particular, from the perspective of IIJ's communication infrastructure, it is said that this situation continues even now, with the amount of communication increasing two to three times after the Korona-ka. Various parts of business, such as remote work at home and remote meetings with remote locations, are now online, and the importance of communication infrastructure is only increasing. As for business performance trends, sales in the security business in the fiscal year ended March 2021 increased 12.7% year-on-year to 18,420 million yen, reaching 21,470 million yen when system integration (SI) related to security was added. In the latest fiscal year ending March 2022, cumulative sales up to the third quarter increased 18.7% year-on-year to 16.15 billion yen, and including SI was 18.39 billion yen. Saito said, "It has been accepted as a security service that meets the needs of customers," and said that the development of a large number of new security services has also led to favorable results. In January, the company announced the new remote access service "IIJ Flex Mobility Service / ZTNA," and the endpoint asset management service is compatible with mobile devices such as tablets. In the SOC service, the company has added "Premium", a top-level menu that takes the initiative in handling the primary incidents. It also offers an optional introduction of endpoint-type threat detection and response (EDR) systems, accounting for 44% of new SOC service contracts. In addition to this, services that inspect the security settings of the cloud and security education services also performed well. Saito explained that his future policy is to incorporate security into all of the company's services, including Internet connection services, mobile communications, IoT infrastructure, and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). He is said to be working with each division. The Security Headquarters announced that it will develop security measures to protect all business environments (workplaces) such as offices, homes, and outings, and will start a new service of Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) in 2023. .. Currently under business development, he introduced features such as "Supporting the operation of the zero trust security environment in the future with SOC".
