Support smart home standard Matters with Google, Android and NEST devices

Google announced at Google I/O 2021 developer conference that it is working on supporting Matter as a standard for the smart home industry with Android and NEST devices.

Matter is a connection standard for new smart homes participating by major IT companies such as Google, Amazon, and Apple.This standard is designed to make smart devices, which are increasing year by year, are not the own standard of manufacturers, but to make them more convenient.

According to Google, we are working on this Matter support and will be introduced on Android and NEST devices.With Android standard support for Matter, you can easily set up and use a smart device that supports Matter, even if it is not a Google device.

Regarding the connection of smart home, there is "Thread" led by Nest Labs under Google.It is a communication standard that uses the same IEEE802.15.4 as Zigbee, but Thread will work in cooperation with Matter.The device that supports Thread, such as Net WiFi, NEST HUB MAX, and 2nd generation NEST HUB, will be a Matter device connection point.

All NEST smart displays and speakers will be automatically updated to control the Matter device.

In addition, it has been announced that it has added to Google Assistant to reduce live videos such as security cameras and smart displays and to reduce audio streaming delays.Manufacturers such as Arlo, Logitech, Netatmo, and WYZE are already supported, and many manufacturers will participate in the next few weeks.

Apple is also participating in Matter, and if Homekit supports Matter, it may be possible to control Homekit devices from Android.In the near future, I hope that this Android will no longer be iOS ...... to use this device.
